Since 1st January 2009, new European regulations (EC No 834/2007) provide a framework to organic farming for the production and labeling of organic products.
In particular, the transport of live poultry must comply with the specific needs of the different species, with due respect for animal welfare and traceability:
- Animal identification must be ensured at all stages of production, preparation, transport and marketing in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Authorizations and official documents: the transport company must be able to present to any control the Certificat d’Aptitude Professionnelle au Transport d’Animaux Vivants of the driver, the authorization of the carrier and the certificate of approval of the means of transport
- Vehicle compliance with the satellite navigation system, signaling, animal conditioning, lighting, temperature and aeration
- Transport conformity for loading density according to species, watering, feeding and resting
- Embarkation and disembarkation: Animals must be handled with care, in conditions of calm and safety
In compliance with all these requirements, the Domaine de Rabutin has obtained organic certification, both for poultry transport and trading, by the certification body Bureau Veritas.
